This season the volleyball team had to say goodbye to two seniors: Katy Bedka and Delia Curtis. They have both been playing for eight years in total and in those eight years, four have been spent playing for the high school. The duo have been on the varsity team for three years and have progressed in their own ways.

Curtis is a middle blocker on the court. Her confidence while playing has grown since she was a freshman.

Senior Delia Curtis prepares to serve in the second game.

“Through a lot of hard work and dedication, she has improved her net play,” said varsity coach Abbey Strohl.

Bedka is a libero, (back row passer) for the team. She has improved her leadership skills and how she communicates with her teammates on the court.

Both girls said that they will remember the bonds that they have made over the years and especially this year’s team.

“My favorite part of playing is the team itself and all of the friends I have made,” said Bedka.

“I will remember the feeling of a good win or good play,” said Curtis.

After this season, the girls will be “hanging up their knee pads” for college. Curtis plans on getting her doctorates degree while Bedka plans on going to Purdue to study pharmacy.

A heartwarming goodbye speech was shared between sisters senior Katy and freshman Gracie Bedka. Gracie Bedka gave her sister the traditional senior speech.

The duo fought hard with their teammates on senior night, but did not win against Munster. The scores of all three games were close: 25-22, 25-20, and finally 25-17.
