Warning, this review includes spoilers!

The movie Thor: Ragnarok was just released this Friday, November 3. It is the third installment of the MCU’s (Marvel Cinematic Universe) Thor movies, and it is the best one to date.

In this movie, Thor is trapped on the planet Sakaar where contestants are forced to fight against each other in brutal gladiatorial matches. The only way off of this planet is you have to defeat the planet’s champion, the Incredible Hulk. Thor is in a race against the clock to escape from this planet and get back to his own homeland, Asgard, as he has to save it from Hela.

Thor can be known as a somewhat of a serious character, but this movie takes a chance and offers us something which has been missing from all the other Thor movies – humor. The jokes in this movie are strategically placed throughout so that they offer a laugh at appropriate moments. The addition of humor to this movie also helps balance out the seriousness of the film and further propels the story forward.

The acting in this movie was incredible! Actress Cate Blanchett’s performance as the villainess Hela, the goddess of death, gives Loki a run for his money for being Thor’s greatest rival. In her first scene, we get to witness her power and fierceness as she completely destroys Thor’s hammer with only one hand as if it were simply a toy.

This movie is, of course, jam packed with action as there are a ton of epic battle scenes throughout the film.

Overall though, the film has a powerful message about how home isn’t simply a place; it’s the people with whom you surround yourself. That being said, this movie was truly amazing, and I highly recommend that you go see it.

Lastly, if you do go see this movie stay until the end. Marvel is known for having end credit scenes and this movie in particular has two.
